Please note that HTTPS Redirect can only be enabled if your domain is using our nameservers. The DNS zone will be set up automatically, and you can review the records at any time.
To enable HTTPS Redirect for your domain, follow these steps:
Step 1: Activate HTTPS Redirect
- Log in to your Moreweb account.
- From the left-hand menu, select DOMAIN.
- Click on the domain name you would like to enable HTTPS Redirect for.
- In the Manage Zone section, click on Activate HTTPS Redirect.
- On the Cart Summary page, choose the subscription length and click PROCEED AND REVIEW & PAYMENT.
- Select your Invoice Profile and preferred Payment Method.
- Read and accept the Terms and Conditions.
- Click CONFIRM PAYMENT to complete your order.
Step 2: Set up HTTPS URL Forwarding
- Log in to your Moreweb account and go to DOMAINS > ACTIVE from the left-hand menu.
- Hover over the domain you want to manage and click the Manage icon on the right.
- Select EDIT DNS ZONE.
- Click NEW RECORD.
- In the Type dropdown, choose URL (URL Forward).
- In the Host field, enter the hostname or subdomain for the source.
- Create two forwarding rules: one with @ as the host, and one with www (or another subdomain if required).
- In the Forward Type field, select the forwarding method:
- Permanent redirect (301) – shows the destination URL in the browser’s address bar (recommended for SEO).
- Frame – keeps the source URL in the browser’s address bar while displaying the destination site.
- Under Protocol select option HTTPS.
- In the Forward To field, type the destination URL (for example:
www.mynewdomain.nz). - Click SAVE.
- Finally, click SAVE CHANGES to apply the forwarding.
Please note: It may take up to 15 minutes for the HTTPS redirect to work. An SSL certificate is issued and installed for your domain name as part of this process.
