- In the Forward To field, type the destination URL (e.g., www.example.com).
- In the Type field, select one of the following options:
- "Permanent redirect (301)" to display the destination URL in the browser's address bar.
- "In a Frame" to display the source URL in the browser's address bar.
- Click SAVE.
- Click SAVE CHANGES to apply your updates.
Note: DNS changes may take up to 24 hours to propagate across the Internet.
Important: This option is only available if the domain is using our name servers.
Only URL forwarding from HTTP to HTTP or HTTP to HTTPS is supported using this method. Forwarding from HTTPS to HTTPS is not supported due to the following reason: For an HTTP forwarding server to respond to SSL requests, it would need access to your SSL certificate and its corresponding private key. Since the HTTP server negotiates the SSL connection, uploading your SSL certificate and private key to a shared URL forwarding server is not practical or secure. To maintain security, the private key should only be installed on your server.
If you need to forward from HTTPS to HTTPS, please:
- Point your source domain to the IP address (A record) or the CNAME of the destination server, or
- Use one of our web hosting products to configure HTTPS to HTTPS URL forwarding.
