An A Alias (APEX ALIAS) record directs the root domain (example.com) to a server name.
To configure an Apex Alias record, follow these steps:
- Log in to your account and navigate to DOMAINS > ACTIVE.
- Hover over the desired domain and click on the Manage icon on the right.
- Click on EDIT DNS ZONE.
- Click on NEW RECORD.
- In the "Type" dropdown menu, select APEX (APEX Alias).
- In the "ALIAS" field, enter the server name. If the server is outside the domain, add a "." at the end of the server name (e.g., "myserver.example.com.").
- Enter the TTL value. The default is 1 hour.
- Click SAVE RECORD.
- Click SAVE ZONE to finalise the changes.
Note: DNS changes can take up to 24 hours to propagate across the Internet.
Additional Notes:
- Apex Alias records can also be configured for subdomains.
- This feature is only available if the domain is using our AnyCast name servers.
- Apex Alias configuration is not possible if DNSSEC is activated on the domain.
