The validation of a Sectigo OV or EV SSL certificate consists of three steps:
1. Domain Validation
Domain validation can be performed using one of the following three methods:
- DNS record validation (CNAME configuration)
- Email validation
- URL validation (configuring a specific tag value on your web hosting)
You must select one of these validation methods during SSL certificate token activation.
Once the SSL certificate token is activated, the pending validation status will appear under Products SSL in your account. Click VALIDATE and follow these steps:
- DNS Record Validation (Moreweb name servers):
If your domain uses Moreweb name servers and you selected DNS validation, the process will be completed automatically. No further action is required. - DNS Record Validation (External name servers):
If your domain does not use Moreweb name servers, you will be shown the CNAME record values that need to be configured. Once added to your domain’s DNS settings, return to the validation page and click VERIFY NOW. - Email Validation:
If you selected email validation, a confirmation email has been sent to the specified address. If not received, you can request a resend by clicking VALIDATE and then RESEND. Follow the instructions in the email to complete the validation. - URL Validation:
If you chose URL validation, you will be provided with a tag that must be added to the specified URL on your web hosting. Once configured, return to the validation page and click VERIFY NOW.
Note: If you are validating a Multi-Domain Certificate (MDC), you will need to complete the above validation steps for each domain included in the SANs.
2. Organization Validation
You must contact the Sectigo validation team via their ticket system to receive instructions and, if necessary, complete and return specific documents.
Submit a ticket at: https://sectigo.com/support-ticket.
Important: When submitting your ticket, mention the Order ID, which is displayed in the pending validation section under Products SSL in your account.
3. Call Back Validation
Sectigo will require a phone verification to complete the validation process.
- Contact the Sectigo validation team via phone at: +1 914 732 8446.
- Request the list of phone numbers allowed for verification and schedule your call-back.
- Provide your Order ID, which can be found in the pending validation section under Products SSL in your account.
