MDC (Multi-Domain Certificates) provide security for multiple domains and subdomains. The additional hosts secured by the certificate, aside from the common name (principal name), are referred to as SAN (Subject Alternative Names). For example:
Common Name: example.com
Subject Alternative Names:
- example.com
- www.example.com
- mail.example.com
- example.org
- www.example.org
- mail.example.org
- *.example.com
MDCs are available as DV, OV, and EV certificates.
