Once you purchase your SSL certificate, you will need to activate it.
To activate your premium SSL certificate, you first need a Certificate Signing Request (CSR). The CSR contains the information required for your certificate application and can be generated using your server software. Please contact your server administrator or hosting provider to obtain it.
IMPORTANT:
- If you need an SSL certificate for both the host www and the APEX domain (e.g., www.example.com and example.com), the CSR must be generated for the common name www.example.com. Generating the CSR for only the APEX domain (e.g., example.com) will result in an SSL certificate valid only for the APEX domain and not for the host www.
- To secure both www.example.com and example.com, validate the SSL certificate on the APEX domain (e.g., example.com), not on www.example.com.
- When generating the CSR, a private key will also be created. Keep this private key confidential to prevent unauthorized use of your SSL certificate.
Once your CSR is ready, follow these steps to activate your SSL certificate:
- Log in to your account.
- Go to PRODUCTS > SSL.
- Select the SSL certificate you want to activate from the dropdown list and click on ACTIVATE CERTIFICATE.
- If the SSL certificate is for a domain registered with us, select the "Moreweb" option and choose the domain from the dropdown menu.
- If the certificate is for a domain registered elsewhere, select "EXTERNAL" and enter the domain name in the field provided.
- Copy and paste the CSR or upload the file containing it.
- Click on DECODE CSR and verify the CSR information displayed to ensure it is correct.
- Select a validation option:
- Email: Choose an email address from the dropdown menu.
- DNS RECORD: If the domain is registered with us and uses our name servers, the TXT record will be added automatically to the domain’s DNS zone.
- Confirm the contact profile of the domain owner.
- Click on ACTIVATE.
IMPORTANT: Please note that the SSL certificate must be activated within 90 days of purchase; otherwise, it will automatically and irrevocably expire.
